About us

Museum "Dr. Nikola Nezlobinski"

It represents a complex institution of national character, which includes departments of biology, archaeology, ethnology, history, a department for art history, and a department for education and marketing.

The founder of the museum is Doctor Nikola Nezlobinski, of Russian origin, who came to Struga in 1924 as a physician helping in the fight against malaria. He was also a nature enthusiast, and when he arrived in Struga he began hunting, but also collecting and taxidermizing insects, birds, and various animals. In 1928, he presented the first zoological collection, thus laying the foundations of the natural science museum in Struga, as well as of museum activity in Macedonia. In his honor, the museum bears his name.
